I would really like to know what does recovery mean?

I would really like to know what you think?

We hear the term recovery often, yet it is difficult to define. Many former problem drinkers and other substance users who are now trying to pursue an improved way of living, say that they are “in recovery.” Yet with its frequent use, there is no agreed-upon definition of the term recovery. For instance:

    Does recovery require abstinence?
Can someone be “in recovery” if they are still drinking or using?
Is recovery more than just being clean and sober? If so, how is that defined?

just a little snippet from an article i was reading.

I would assume atleast that recovery requires abstinence from the substance, so you couldnt really be in recovery if you were still using.

what is your definition of recovery?

Good point. I can't disagree. To be in recovery would assume that you have stopped using drugs and your living your life with out drugs being a problem.
I am not sure if you have to be totally abstinent. For example if you can take a social drink, would that be ok? But then I suppose the way we drink in Ireland, would be a bad comparison. At the same time, I don't think people in recovery should be saints. The important thing is that drugs are not preventing you fulling your lives purpose. But then lots of things can prevent us from living our life purpose! What do you think?

We think that we decide our live purpose ourselves. How someone lives, decides that person. For example: 2 persons with the same IQ and the same background. Their lives will be also different, because they decide what they want for their lives.
