Dear Friends in Recovery,
I’m writing to let you know about a couple of one-day mindful recovery retreats in Ireland this month (July 2012). Numbers are limited and places are filling fast just by word of mouth. Places for the retreat(s) must be booked in advance.
Hungry Ghost Retreats
The programme for each day will be identical and titled “Journey of the Hero : From Hungry Ghost to Being Human – without stopping in Hell’. Links to full details are here:
DUBLIN : Saturday 14th July from 9:00am (for a 10:00am start) until 5:30pm at Oscailt Mews, 8 Baggot Lane.
CLARE : Saturday 21st July from 9:00am (for a 9:30am start) until 5:00pm at Sunyata Retreat Centre, Sixmilebridge.
If you are interested in exploring a Buddhist-oriented approach to recovery from Alcohol & Other Drugs Addictions are invited to come along to either day (or both, if you are so inclined).
Hungry Ghost Retreat Cost : There is a small charge for the day of €10 per person or €5 concessions plus the opportunity to offer an optional donation (Dana).
Sit & Share Recovery Meetings
In addition to the Hungry Ghost retreat days, there will also be the opportunity to join and participate in a Buddhist-oriented ‘Sit & Share’ Recovery Meeting on the evening preceding each retreat as follows:
DUBLIN : Friday 13th July from 6:30pm (for a 7:00pm start) until 9:00 at Oscailt Mews, Oscailt Mews, 8 Baggot Lane.
CLARE : Friday 20th July from 6:30pm (for a 7:00pm start) until 9:00 at Sunyata Retreat Centre, Sixmilebridge.
Sit & Share Cost : No fee - optional donation (Dana) towards the cost of room hire. There is no need to book in advance for the ‘Sit & Share’ meetings – just turn up.
Each day and evening will formally end with a dedication of merit which I offer below:
We dedicate the merits of this practice to all suffering addicts.
May everyone be free of suffering, and the causes of suffering.
May everyone enjoy happiness, and the causes of happiness.
Keep sitting; and keep smiling.
